Mousse Filled Halloween Witch Hats - with yoyomax12
These crunchy sugar cones are filled with delicious chocolate mousse. Popcorn eyeballs video:
To make mousse:
1-3/4 cups in total of heavy whipping cream DIVIDED into the following portions: 1/2 cup and 1 1/4 cups
1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips.
In a small saucepan over med/low heat, heat the 1/2 cup of cream until it starts to simmer, remove from heat and stir in chocolate chips until melted and smooth. Set aside to cool to room temperature.
Beat the 1 1/4 cups of whipping cream until thick with stiff peaks.
Fold in the cooled chocolate/cream mixture until combined. Cover and chill.
For Hats:
Sugar cone ice cream cones (or regular ones)
Thin chocolate wafer cookies
Semi sweet chocolate chips
sprinkles and candies
Melt 1 cup of chocolate chips and add in 1 tsp of shortening if it seems to thick. Brush melted chocolate onto sugar cones (recipe calls for 12 of them) until coated. While chocolate is still melted sprinkle cones with sprinkles or decorate with candies.
Allow cones to harden on waxed paper and then fill with mousse.
I put my mousse into a piping bag to make it easier to get to the bottom of the cones.
Dip the edge of the ice cream cone into melted chocolate and place onto the center of the chocolate cookie. Allow to harden and serve.
The cones will get a bit soggy after 24 hrs, so it is probably better to fill them the day you are going to serve them, everything else can be make in advance.

A Dress Historian Explains the History of the Witch Hat
Where does the iconic black pointed witch's hat come from? What is the history of the witch hat? Did it come from Medieval European sumptuary laws? British Alewives? Quakers? Let's sit down and unpack the *very* interesting history of the flat-brimmed, conical, black witch hat.
????Learn more about the Burnley and Trowbridge Mantua-Making Workshop Here: (Again, this is *NOT* sponsored! I just think this is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who wants to learn about 18th-century mantua making/dressmaking and hand sewing techniques.)
While 2020 has been a wild ride, I think we can all agree that the explosion of interest in the occult, magic, and all things witchy has been a fun bright spot in what has been a rough year. I have seen loads and loads of witchy photoshoots and witch aesthetic videos explode all over TikTok, Instagram, and Youtube. With this surge of interest in all things Witchy™ it got me to thinking about the origins of the witch's hat. Where did it come from? What is the history of this hat? Who originally wore this hat? Is it ok to wear this hat today? So, ever the nerd, and deeply frustrated by the lack of quality internet research, I set out to see if I could find out the actual history of the witch's hat. It sent me down a very long rabbit hole (I got grad school flashbacks, y'all.)
To understand the history of the witch's hat, we first have to understand the history of witches, so our story begins around 1100 CE, with a fun pit stop in the 15th-century and that hot piece of trash known as Malleus Maleficarum (or The Witch's Hammer OR the Hammer of Witches - depending on the translation), through 16th-century women's fashion, a brief chat about Mother Louse and Alewives, and finally ending up with female Quakers and anti-Quakerism in 17th century Britain. Y'all. It was a ride. While I'm proud of the research I present in this video, I am still researching this topic and am working with Kenna Libes ( on turning this into an academic article. Who knows, maybe in 2021, I'll do a follow-up video where I roast myself on my own conclusions!

Savoury Halloween Treats- Part 2- Stuffed Witches Hats
Ingredients
1 pack puff pastry
Grated cheese or vegetarian alternative
Salami, slices or roll
Cheese, cut into strips
Mixed herbs
Black pepper, freshly grinded
Flour for dusting
Pumpkin seeds
Method
Heat the oven to 220C/200C fan/ gas 7. Roll the puff pastry out thinly and cut into large triangles. Across the bottom edge of each triangle place a strip of salami and top with a little grated cheese. Roll the pastry up forming a brim at the bottom of each triangle hat. Place the triangles onto a baking tray lined with baking parchment, then sprinkle the mixed herbs on to the remainder of the hats. Also grind on some black pepper.
Bake for 12-15 mins, or until golden. Remove from the oven and while still warm place a strip of cheese at the top of the brim of the hat and place a pumpkin seed in middle of cheese strip for decoration. Leave to cool. Will keep for two days in an airtight container.

While the cake is baking, cover the plate with the sheet cake. After the witches hats cookies has cooled in the pan or container on the rack release.
If necessary, the low level so that it sits evenly on your cake round.
If you used a glass baking the pot pie, you may have to cut a few inches from the bottom where it narrows, so that the widest and heaviest witches hats cookies has a solid enough training.
Cover the pot Halloween witches hats cookies with soft and creamy brown butter, Now comes the fun part! Decorate top of cake with marzipan figures you rolled butter or model or created with gum witches hats cookies . Or you could use store bought candy representing brewing ingredients of the typical witch - newt eye and so on.
Another decorating idea: Use a jelly roll, cut out the shapes you want, decorate with icing and then plop into a bouillon witch.
For extra drama, tuck miniature red and orange lights around the base of the witches hats cookies . This reflects bring fire to the cake table cover with foil.
Just before serving, put the witch hat on and tell the guests to the party that has a special beer making pie, but to make the magic work, you need to recite Shakespeare.
As the excitement reaches a crescendo around the dining table, pour an ounce or two of water in the well and bring your witches hats cookies cauldron of steam.
How to Make Halloween Witch Cupcakes
How to Make Halloween Witch Cupcakes
Full Recipe:
My witch cupcakes are made with buttercream faces and hair topped with a hat that might just look familiar to you if you're a regular visitor to this blog. Last year I made witch hat cookies for halloween, which I LOVED! This year I wanted to use the same idea but take it further. I'm not going to lie, these little treats take a bit of time to make but I think it's totally worth is and the whole project was pretty fun!
SOME TIPS and Tricks
* If you're short on time then skip the hats. The witch's faces are pretty quick and easy to pipe.
* I used an 808 or large round tip for the head and a 125 or petal tip for the nose. Hair was piped with a large grass tip.
* When you're adding food coloring to the buttercream remember that it darkens after it sits out for a but so don't panic if the color isn't super-saturated right away.
* Black sanding sugar is MESSY! So best to work over a baking pan and contain the chaos!
* When working on the cookies pop them into the freezer to set quickly
* You will be microwaving your chocolate from time to time as it cools while you’re doing the various steps. Black Candy Melt can be substituted for chocolate. It’s easer to melt and you don’t need to worry about it seizing.
* I used gold leaf for the buckles but they could also be made from yellow fondant.

You can find some whimsical legs here:
(but it seems they are unavailable right now)
Oriental Trading Company has the same thing, but the cost of shipping sometimes is prohibitive:
You can make your own witch legs using a piece of black licorice, use some white frosting very thinly stripped across it to make 'stripes' for stockings, then glue a jelly bean using some frosting to the ends of each licorice piece, and a mini M&M on the end of it to pretend they are a heel. Stick two into each cupcake.
Or you can use pretzels for the legs. I am continuing to play with ideas for my Halloween get together.
