Citrus, Stained Glass, Potpourri Ornaments
In this video, we will demonstrate how to make a dehydrated citrus ornament that when hung on a Christmas tree as an ornament, looks like stained glass. We like to make ornaments from natural things to create an old fashioned Christmas. It makes our home feel very homey and warm and the items we use are used for multi-purpose in our home. The citrus will be also used to season teas, for cooking, and as potpourri in our kitchen. This activity, as all of our Christmas crafts are meant to be done as a family to be used for bonding during the holidays. These are wonderful traditions that help to create family unity. This dehydrating process can be used for any fruit that can also be used for decorations. We dehydrate and use berries, citrus, apples, bananas, potatoes, and a host of other items for decorating, storing, and eating. The citrus we dehydrate in this video will be stored in a mason jar or recycled jar and used throughout the year. Decorating with the citrus for Christmas brightens up the Christmas tree and helps to scent the house.

Yule Cranberry Orange Bread Magick???? With Orange Glaze ???? Yule Recipes
Yule Recipe! Let's celebrate Yule by baking Yule Cranberry Orange Bread Magick with an Orange Glaze. ???? Then we'll be having a chat about the magickal correspondences of oranges and cranberries drawing on their history and lore.
Many Yule Blessings Friends!
???? Yule Cranberry Orange Bread Recipe
???? Bread Ingredients:
2 Cups Flour
1 ½ tsp Baking Powder
½ tsp Baking Soda
Dash of Salt
1 Tbsp Orange Zest (Zest of 2 Oranges)
¼ Cup Melted Butter
1 Cup Sugar
⅔ Cups Orange Juice (4½ Freshly Squeezed Oranges)
1 ½ Cups Cranberries (I used frozen)
???? Glaze Ingredients
3/4 Cup Icing Sugar
2 Tbsp Orange Juice
1 tsp of Vanilla Extract (or to taste)
Grate zest from 2 oranges.
If using freshly squeezed orange juice, juice oranges.*
Blend together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and orange zest.
In separate bowl mix together butter, egg, sugar, and orange juice.
Blend wet and dry ingredients then mix in cranberries
Bake about 1 hour at 350F.
Let cool, and remove from pan, then glaze.
*I juiced my oranges by hand - a hand juicer, or electric juicer are also great options. You can also easily substitute freshly squeezed orange juice for juice that is already prepared :)

5 Ways to Use Dried Lavender | Slow Living | Garden Style | Handmade Gifts | Essential Oils | Hygge
Hello there! Welcome to Tending to Home, I'm Trisha. :)
Today we are talking about one of my favorite plants...Lavender. I grow loads of Lavender here on my little homestead. Drying Lavender couldn't be any easier, simply cut in the morning after the dew has dried. Bundle into small groups and hang upside down to dry....and you're ready to go!
Instructions are below...but first.....
Here are some great sources for finding dried Lavender online (if you don't already grow your own) and the tools/supplies you'll need to create the items we worked on today:
Dried Organic Lavender Buds:
Organic Lavender Essential Oil:
Mesh Bath Salt Bags:
Organic Melt and Pour Goat's Milk Soap:
Silicone Soap Mold:
Whole Organic Flax Seeds:
Bath Salts Recipe: Add 1 cup Epsom salts and 1/2 cup lavender buds to a glass or stainless steel bowl. Then in a separate glass dish combine 20-25 drops of organic lavender essential oil and 1 T. olive oil or grapeseed oil. Add oil mixture to salt/lavender & mix well. Add to small lidded jars and for a layered look, equally layer in 1 cup sea salt & 1 cup Himalayan pink salt. Replace lid and store in a cool dark space. Pour into a mesh bag before use and add to a hot bath. Soak for at least 20 minutes to get the benefit of the salts. Enjoy!
Soap Recipe: Use one block of Organic Goat's Milk melt and pour soap (link above). Melt in the microwave, little by little... in a glass container, stirring every so often with a stainless steel spoon. Once melted fully, add a sprinkle of lavender buds, one T. of honey. Add one tsp, to one T. of Lavender essential oil (depending on how much scent you prefer). Stir and pour into your mold (link above). Add a sprinkle of organic oats and lavender on top for exfoliation bar. Let fully cool for a few hours or more. Remove from mold and let stand for 24 hours before using. Store in an airtight container. Should make about 4-6 bars depending on the mold size. Enjoy!
Eye Pillow Instructions: Cut one piece of scrap cotton fabric to size...5 by 18. Place right sides together and sew around 3 sides with a 1/4 seam allowance. Turn pillow right side out and fill half-way with dried lavender. Add whole flax seeds until pillow is 3/4 of the way full (pillow should be part empty to fit to the contours of your eyes and bridge of your nose). Turn unfinished edges inwards and sew pillow shut. Toss pillow around to mix lavender and flax seeds. Enjoy!

30 Things You Need to Throw Away from Your House
According to the National Association of Professional Organizers, we spend at least 1 year of our lives looking for stuff. So why do we hold on to things? The answer is simple. Not everything comes with an expiration date. So, we’re unsure when we should get rid of old items. But, ditching things that we no longer use can help us maximize space and improve productivity.
To help yourself declutter, you have to follow one simple rule. Chuck away anything you haven’t used in the past two years. Now, don’t go around putting everything in boxes. That’ll create a huge mess. Instead, do one item at a time!

- The only reason to keep single socks is if you’re looking to get crafty and upcycle them.
- People put a lot of pride and effort into creating their movie collections, but with the push of a button, you can transfer all of them on to a hard-drive.
- Show your hair some love. It’s better to invest in a few good quality hairbands than having a 100 of them constantly breaking.
- We hold on to our spices in case we need to give our dishes some extra flavor. But, we keep them way too long.
- Razors that are kept in a moist environment tend to get rusty twice as fast. Shaving with rusty razors can cause burns and skin infections.
- There are places you can take your plastic bags and recycle them, putting an end to the ever-growing mass.
- Skincare products that are rarely used are a great source of bacterial growth. So, it’s safer for your skin if you get rid of them.
- Things like colored pens and little note pads make us feel more organized. But the ones that’ve been sitting in your drawer can be donated.
- The truth is, most of us have a few favorite coffee mugs. The rest of them sit in a cupboard collecting dust.
- There are better ways to remember your adventurous vacation than holding on to tiny shampoo and soap bottles from the hotel you stayed in.
- Unless you’re an electrician or an engineer who can get inventive with their old power cords, there’s no reason to keep them.
- If you still have the receipt from the take-out place you ate lunch at a week ago, then you know what to do.
- This is a huge mistake! There are many things that can go wrong with old prescription medication, so it’s better to get rid of them.
- Take-out menus are like emergency service phone numbers. But with all the take-out places having their menus online, there’s no reason to keep them.
- If your loofah is more than a month old, it should be replaced. As time progresses, they get dirtier.
- Whether it’s a keyboard waffle maker or a normal toaster that you’ve used once, don’t hold on to it. Some appliances are more trouble to use than to not.
- If your bathroom towels begin to feel like cardboard boxes, this is a sign that they’ve reached their lifespan.
