Super Easy Puff Pastry Cheese Twists
In this video I go through the steps of making some easy puff pastry cheese twists. These are a great hit at a party or in the kids lunch box.
These twists are pretty easy to quickly make and will take about 10 minutes to prepare and 15 minutes in the oven. You will need to make sure the pastry is defrosted before you go to start these.
Below are all the ingredients that I use in this recipe.
• 1 Sheet of puff pastry
• 1/3 Cup shredded cheese
• ¼ Cup parmesan
• 2 tsp. garlic
• 1 tsp oregano
• 1 large egg beaten
• ½ tsp salt
You can add lots of different ingredients to this recipe to create delicious flavour combinations. One of my personal favourites is adding some green pesto to the pastry before I add the cheese. This is just one example of the many variations you can try.
It’s important to make sure you have preheated the oven to the correct temperature before adding the puff pastry cheese twists into the oven. You may find if you add it into a cold oven that the pastry doesn’t puff up very much.
If you’re saving these for later then make sure you let them cool down before storing them. If you store them whilst they’re hot they will likely go soggy and will not be very nice to eat.

CHEESE TWISTS RECIPE
2 x puff pastry sheets
1 x jar Barilla basil pesto
6 x slices provolone cheese
6-8 slices finely sliced prosciutto (you can also use ham or salami)
1 x egg
Handful pistachio nuts (or any nuts you have in the cupboard)
Flat baking tray
1. To make the Cheese twists, place one sheet of baking paper on top of the chopping board.
2. Place a sheet of puff pastry on top of the baking paper and drizzle extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) on top. Then, spread it all over the sheet using a pastry brush, covering each side.
3. Lather one side of the second sheet of pastry with EVOO too and put it to the side.
4. Get a generous scoop of Barilla basil pesto and put it in the middle of the pastry sheet. Then use the back of the spoon to lather the pesto all over it.
VINCENZO’S PLATE TIP: Cheese twists are best served with a cheese that stretches once melted, my favourite is Provolone Dolce.
5. Next, lay the slices of cheese side by side, covering the whole sheet and using between 6-8 slices.
6. Place thin slices of prosciutto on top of the cheese before sealing it with the second sheet of puff pastry (making sure you have the side with oil facing down.
7. Now cover the pastry with a sheet of baking paper, and using the rolling pin, press down gently (rolling back and forth) so that it all seals together really well.
VINCENZO’S PLATE TIP: If it’s a hot day, or you feel the pastry getting sticky, put it in the freezer for a couple of minutes as it’s easier to work with if it’s not too soft.
8. Remove the baking paper and place it on to your baking tray.
9. Use the pizza slicer (or a sharp knife) to cut the cheesy twist strips - making them approx. 3cm in width.
10. Place a strip on the baking tray and twist it by starting at the centre, and working down the ends next. Gently press any ingredients which may have popped out, back in.
11. Repeat this with each strip, and leave a gap between cheese twist as they’ll grow when cooking.
12. Put the tray of cheese twists in the oven at 200 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes, turning them once they have cooked for 15 minutes to keep each side nice and crispy!.
How to serve:
Enjoy with a Prosecco before you start a meal or as part of an antipasto/grazing board. They are best eaten straight out of the oven when they’re still hot and crispy, but can also be enjoyed cold.

Children will love the taste of these Cheese Straw Biscuits. Let me show you how to make Cheese Straw Twists or Cheese Straw Fingers the easy way. Given below is the step by step instructions for this Christmas Snacks recipe.
1/2 cup Flour
1 cup shredded Cheese
1 tsp Chilli flakes
1/2 cup chilled Butter
1/2 tsp Oregano
Salt to taste
Chilled water to knead
-- Combine Flour, Salt, Oregano, Chilli flakes and chilled Butter.
-- Add grated Cheese and mix well.
-- Add chilled water and knead into a firm dough.
-- Chill the dough in the Fridge for 1/2 hour.
-- Roll out the dough and cut into strips.
-- Twist the strips as shown and place them on a baking tray lined with butter paper.
-- Bake at 170 degrees C for 10 minutes.
-- Freshly baked homemade Cheese Straw Fingers are ready to eat.

ALL QUANTITIES AND INGREDIENTS LISTED BELOW.
Here's the recipe for my ultimate cheese straws, They're topped with Parmesan, parma ham and chilli flakes. They taste absolutely delicious and are the perfect party snack!!
450g Plain flour
250g Unsalted butter
Then mix in;
1tsp Mustard powder
1tsp Smoked paprika
1 Egg yolk
1 Beaten egg
Grated Parmesan or vegetarian hard cheese
Torn Parma ham
Bake at 180c fan for 8-10 mins until golden brown.
leave to cool fully before removing from tray.

Simple and delicious this is the perfect party food, or snack, or dippable!
Very easy to make too, you'll only need a few ingredients.
A block of puff pastry, ready rolled puff pastry will work too.
Some cheese... I have used parmesan and some decent cheddar.
Your choice of seasoning... I have used salt pepper and smoked paprika.
An egg, beaten.
1) Roll the pastry out to about 30cm by 20.
2) Paint half with egg.
3) Grate in the cheeses and seasoning.
4) Fold in half and use a rolling pin to get a good seal, and make it a little bigger.
5) Cut into half inch strips.
6) twist up and lay out on parchment paper on baking trays. Stick the ends down to help stop them unravelling.

• 50 ml milk
• 20g grated parmesan
• poppy seeds
Lay out the puff pastry and grease it with milk.
Incorporate the grated parmesan into the pastry.
Grease with milk and sprinkle with poppy seeds. You can use other coverings per your choice.
Cut into thin strips and place the rolled sticks in the prepared pan.
Bake at 180 °C for 10 minutes until golden-brown.

1 medium British free-range Woodland egg by Sainsbury's, beaten
100g mature Cheddar cheese or Parmesan cheese, grated
1. Unroll the pastry and brush with beaten egg. Scatter over the cheese and pat down slightly.
2. Cut the pastry into 10 strips. Chill the pastry strips for 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 220ºC,fan 200ºC,gas 7. Take a chilled strip and roll in opposite directions to create a twist. Gently roll to create a long straw. Cut in half and lift onto a 3. baking sheet.
4. Bake for 10 minutes, reduce the temperature to 200ºC, fan 180º C, gas 6 and bake for a further 5-10 minutes until golden. Cool on a wire rack.
Cook's tip: For an extra glaze, brush the cheese straws with a little more egg and scatter with any remaining cheese before baking.

1 sheet frozen prepared puff pastry, thawed
1 Cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 egg, slightly beaten
8 slices bacon
Sea salt and pepper
Your favorite BBQ sauce
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Unfold puff pastry onto a lightly floured work surface, so that longer sides of the rectangle are at the top and bottom.
Sprinkle cheese on the top half of the pastry. Season lightly with salt and pepper. Fold pastry in half, from bottom to top. Using a rolling pin, roll pastry until the puff pastry reaches the same height as a slice of bacon. Do not roll pastry to increase the length dimension. Apply egg wash to the entire surface. Gently flip the pastry and apply egg wash to other side. Cut the pastry into nine even strips (from top to bottom.) Lay out a slice of bacon onto each strip. To create a twist, grasp one end in each hand, making sure to have hold of both bacon and pastry. Hold steady with one hand and gently twist with the other hand. Place twist onto parchment-lined baking sheet. Repeat with remaining strips. Bake for 35-45 minutes, until bacon is slightly crisp and pastry is golden. Serve warm with barbecue dipping sauce. (We love Annie's organic smoky maple BBQ sauce.)

1 sheet puff pastry
2 oz parmesan cheese
salt, pepper, cayenne to taste
1. Put out puff pastry to thaw
2. Grate cheese on a rasp grater or other very fine grater
3. Unfold puff pastry. Sprinkle half the cheese on top, then sprinkle with seasonings.
4. Place piece of parchment paper ON TOP of the cheese-sprinkled pastry. Roll out until evenly thin and cheese is all pressed in.
5. Flip the pastry over and repeat on the other side, with cheese and seasonings and rolling.
6. Cut into 1/2 inch wide strips.
7. Twist the strips then place on uncreased baking sheet.
8. Bake at 425 for 8-10 minutes, keeping a close eye on the puffs.
9. Let cool and serve. Will keep for 3+ days in an airtight container.

This is one of my favorite things to make. It’s so cheesy and crunchy. It’s not a hard recipe to follow. So I hope you guys enjoy this one.

1/3 cup Lard
1/4 cup butter
1 teaspoon mustard
2 cloves of grated garlic
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper. whatever hot pepper you have.
