You can make this when you have stale bread at home, very easy to make and can be a comfort food to many people..Usually its served with Jam or jelly as the pudding is not too sweet, unless you want to add sugar to the custard made. You can definitely eat as is!
I am not adding sugar in this recipe, just sprinkling on top to caramelize when baking, but the raisins and dried cranberries adds a little sweetness. If you don't like raisins you can skip them and add something you like, dried fruit, cashews etc.,

Ingredients:
For Custard:
One large egg
One large egg yolk
600ml Whole milk (Full fat milk)
12 Slices of white bread (this depends according to the side of the dish)
Butter to spread on the bread slices
1/4 cup raisins or as needed
1/4 cup dried cranberries or as needed
3 tbsp of sliced almonds
Lemon zest
Grated nutmeg
Little brown sugar to sprinkle on top
Bake;
In 350 degree fahrenheit for about 30-40 minutes until the top is golden brown

This amazing bread pudding recipe is perfectly sweet with a wonderfully soft texture inside, a crisp top, and a delicious traditional pudding sauce. Bread pudding is basically a giant upgraded french toast casserole. Super-quick to whip up and of course it's a great use for stale bread, but just because it's easy as can be doesn't mean it's not amazingly delicious! I used brioche instead of plain white bread then whipped up my favorite brandy sauce, which I poured liberally on top.

Bread pudding dates back centuries as most
people could not afford to waste food so a number of uses for stale bread were invented. Bread pudding is a bread-based dessert popular in many countries’ cuisines, made with stale bread and milk or cream, egg and sugar. The bread is soaked in a egg custard mixture and mixed with other ingredients and baked. Bread puddings have remained popular throughout the ages. Today bread puddings are not as common as they used to but many people still craved for it. You don’t know how good is it until you make it yourself and taste it.

INGREDIENTS
3/4-1 loaf stale bread ( wholemeal or white )
1 can evaporated milk
2 cups water
4 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 tsp cinnamon powder
50g raisins
50g cranberries (optional )
Butter for topping
Bake at 185 degrees Celsius for 45-50 mins.

Bread and butter pudding is a classic British pudding, also known as bread pudding it consists of layers of buttered bread soaked in a raw egg custard and baked. My bread and butter pudding has some dried fruit sprinkled between the layers to make the bread pudding even more tasty. This bread pudding recipe also served with a simple custard or creme Anglaise. I hope you will enjoy this wonderful pudding recipe. There is another British pudding known as bread pudding which is completely different to this pudding which I do intend to make one day.

Bread and butter pudding
Sliced bread 10 slices
Eggs 5
MIlk 425ml - 3/4 pint
Double or heavy cream 285ml - 1/2 pint
Caster sugar 50g - 1.7oz
Sultanas 50g - 1.7oz
Unsalted butter 100g - 3.5oz
Mixed spice 1 pinch
Vanilla 1 pod or 1 tsp paste
The Custard (creme Anglaise)
Double or heavy cream 250ml - 0.4 pint
Milk 250ml - 0.4 pint
Caster sugar 50g - 1.7oz
Eggs 6
Vanilla 1 pod or tsp paste

Yield: 8 servings
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 60 minutes
Ingredients
3 Tbsp (45 g) melted butter, plus extra for brushing the pan
4 cups (1 L) day-old bread cubes, cut into ¾-inch (20 mm) dice
2 large eggs
1 egg yolk
½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar (caster sugar)
1 ½ cups (375 mL) milk
1 cup (250 mL) whipping cream (35%)
1 tsp (5 mL) vanilla extract
¼ tsp (1 mL) ground nutmeg
pinch salt
½ cup (75 g) raisins, soaked in hot water and drained (optional)
cinnamon sugar, for sprinkling
Directions
1. Preheat the oven to 350 F (180 C). Brush a 6 to 8-cup (1.5 - 2 L) baking dish with melted butter, and pour 3 Tbsp (45 g) over the day-old bread and toss in a large bowl.
2. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, yolk and sugar and then whisk in the milk, cream, vanilla, nutmeg and salt. Pour this over the bread, toss to coat, and let sit for about 15 minutes, stirring once or twice. It may look like a lot of liquid, but it all balances out. After sitting for the required time, use a potato masher or slotted spoon to break down the bread pieces a bit.
3. Drain the soaking raisins and stir them into the pudding mixture. Pour this into the buttered baking dish and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Bake, uncovered, for about 60 minutes, until the pudding soufflés a little and the top turn a golden brown. Allow the pudding to cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
The bread pudding can be served warm or chilled.

Bread
Egg - 2 nos
Milk - 200 ml
Vanilla Essence - 1 Tsp

Cinnamon Sugar (optional)

To make Custard
Custard Powder (Vanilla Flavour) - 3 Tsp
Milk - 1 cup

Method:
1. Chop the bread into smaller pieces. Keep it aside.
2. To a bowl, add egg, milk, vanilla essence, melter buter, sugar and mix well.
3. Grease a cake tin and line it with butter paper.
4. Put the bread pieces into the cake tin.
5. Pour the egg milk mixture over the bread peices.
6. Sprinkle some cinnamom sugar over the top.
7. Top it with few raisins.
8. Place it in a pressure cooker and bake on medium flame for about 20 mins.
9. To a smaller bowl, dissolve the custard powder in milk.
10. Heat milk in a saucepan, and add the custard mixture.
11. Mix until it thickens. Custard sauce is ready.
12. Once the pudding cools, take a slice, drizzle some custard sauce before serving.

Ingredients:
7 slices white farmhouse loaf
40g butter, softened, plus extra for greasing
60g sultanas
5 eggs
60g caster sugar
150ml double cream
1½ tsp vanilla extract
300ml whole milk
2 tbsp demerara sugar
Method:
1. Remove the crusts from 7 slices white bread, cut in half on the diagonal and spread with 40g softened butter.
2. Layer the bread, butter side-up, in a buttered 1.5ltr shallow baking dish with 60g sultanas, overlapping the bread and fruit to fill the dish. Set aside.
3. Whisk together 3 eggs, 2 egg yolks, 60g caster sugar, 150ml double cream and 1½ tsp vanilla extract until well combined. Add 300ml whole milk and whisk again.
4. Pour over the bread and allow to soak for 15 mins. Preheat the oven to gas 4, 180°C, fan 160°C. Sprinkle the top of the bread with 2 tbsp demerara sugar, bake for 30 mins.
5. Preheat grill to high: grill for 1-2 mins for a really crisp, golden top before serving.

Bread Pudding with Vanilla Bourbon Sauce - Homemade Bread Pudding Recipe!
Learn how to make the best homemade bread pudding you will ever have! Soft, moist, custard-y goodness with raisins and topped with a vanilla bourbon sauce. This right here is the bread pudding of champions!
What you'll need:
16 ounce loaf of French bread (450g)
1/2 cup raisins (115g)
4 large eggs
1/4 cup granulated sugar (50g)
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup butter, melted (115g)
pinch of freshly ground nutmeg or 1/2 tsp store-bought
2 cups half and half (475ml)
1 cup whole milk (240ml)
Begin by soaking the raisins in a small bowl, just covered with boiling water. Set aside. **DRAIN BEFORE USING**
Tear bread into pieces and set aside.
In a large bowl combine eggs, sugar, vanilla and butter. Whisk well to dissolve sugar. Add in nutmeg, half and half and milk. Whisk well to combine all ingredients. Add in bread pieces and toss to coat. Set aside for 30 minutes.
To layer the mix and raisins, put 1/3rd of the bread and custard mix into the bottom of an 8 x 8 baking dish (20cm x 20cm). Sprinkle with 1/3rd of the raisins. Repeat the layering twice more.
Bake pudding in a preheated 325*F (165*C) oven for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown and center is just barely set. It should jiggle slightly. Remove from oven when done and let cool to room temp before transferring to the refrigerator to chill completely (at least 6-8 hours or preferably overnight).
For the sauce:
1 large egg
3/4 cup half and half (175ml)
1/2 cup granulated sugar (100g)
dash of cinnamon (1/4 tsp)
splash of vanilla extract (1/2 tsp)
pinch of freshly ground nutmeg (1/8 tsp)
splash of Jim Beam Bourbon (1 Tbsp)
In a small saucepan combine egg, half and half and sugar. Mix well. Add in cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and Jim Beam. Cook over low heat until simmering and sauce thickens while whisking constantly. Sauce may foam up but bubbles will subside when taken off heat. When it's done, sauce will coat the back of a spoon and will resemble a thin pudding in consistency.

Bread and Butter Pudding by Mary Berry
150g/5oz mixed sultanas or raisins
75g/3oz brown sugar
1 lemon or orange, finely grated zest
8 thin slices white bread
100g/4oz butter, melted
230 ml fresh milk
1 egg
You will need an ovenproof dish. I used a lasagne solo sized pan and use half of the ingredients for each pan. You can also use a regular baking pan and do the layers in one pan.
Don’t put too much fruits on top as this might burn. The bread pudding will puff while baking so make sure your pan is at least 1 1/2 to 2 inches in height.

1 cup - 250ml (8 fl oz)
3/4 cup- 180ml (6 fl oz)
2/3 cup - 150ml (5 fl oz)
1/2 cup - 120ml (4 fl oz)
1/3 cup - 75ml (2 1/2 fl oz)
1/4 cup - 60ml (2 fl oz)
1 tblsp - 15ml (1/2 fl oz)
1 tsp - 5ml (0.17 fl oz)

Bread and Butter, the two basic kitchen items can do a lot more than what you think. Here's the recipe of a pudding made with bread and butter.
BREAD AND BUTTER PUDDING
Ingredients
6 white bread slices
Butter for applying
1½ cups milk
¼ cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla essence
A pinch of nutmeg powder
¼ tsp green cardamom powder
2 tbsps raisins (kishmish)
Method
1. Preheat the oven at 180˚C.
2. Apply butter on one side and cut each into 4 pieces and set aside.
3. Heat milk in a deep saucepan, add castor sugar and stir till it dissolves. Take the pan off the heat and allow to cool slightly.
4. Take a baking dish and arrange the slices with buttered side up. Set aside.
5. Break in the eggs in the saucepan, add vanilla essence and whisk till well combined.
6. Add nutmeg powder and green cardamom powder and whisk well. Strain the mixture directly on to the bread.
7. Sprinkle raisins and bake for 30 minutes. Take the baking dish out of the oven and allow to cool slightly.
8. Serve warm or cold.
