½ cup firmly-packed light brown sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
¼ cup milk
½ cup water
Topping:
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
½ cup quick-cooking oats
½ cup chopped pecans
¼ cup white sugar
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3.5-ounce package butterscotch pudding and pie filling mix
½ cup butter, melted
cooking oil spray
In a medium to large bowl, mix together topping ingredients, until crumbly. Set aside. Place prepared apples in a large bowl. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, 1 tablespoon flour, milk, and water. Pour over apples and stir to coat. Pour apple mixture into an 8-inch square baking dish that has been sprayed with cooking oil spray. Sprinkle prepared topping evenly over apple mixture. Bake at 350 degrees (F) about 30 minutes, or until topping is golden brown and apples are tender, but not mushy. Remove from oven and let rest for 20 minutes. Serve warm or cool. Delicious! Apple Pie Recipe with Caramel
An easy apple pie recipe with caramel sauce. Any leftover pastry in this apple pie recipe can be baked as biscuits.
Get this dessert recipe & shop ingredients online:
Make the pastry, refrigerate. Roll out half the pastry between 2 sheets of baking paper to a 30cm circle. Line a greased 23cm pie tin or cake pan with pastry. Meanwhile remove second disc from fridge and roll on a sheet of baking paper to a 28cm circle. Combine apple and lemon juice in a bowl, tip into a colander placed over a bowl to drain. Meanwhile, combine spice, sugar and flour in a bowl. Mix well. Add apple slices and caramel sauce, toss to coat. Place the apples in the pie. Place the pastry lid over and crimp edges and decorate lid with pastry stars. Brush with egg yolk and sprinkle with extra caster sugar. Place apple pie onto hot tray in oven. Bake at 180C fan-forced for 35-45 minutes or until crisp and golden. Stand in pan 10 minutes before serving.
Prep mins: 1 hour
Cook mins: 45
Servings: 8
Ingredients
5 granny smith apples, peeled, quartered, cored and thinly sliced
½ cup lemon juice
1 teaspoon Woolworths Select mixed spice
¼ cup Homebrand caster sugar, plus ½ tsp extra
3 tablespoons Homebrand plain flour
2 tablespoons Woolworths Gold caramel salted dessert sauce
1 Woolworths Select egg, separated
Woolworths Select vanilla ice cream, to serve
Pastry
2½ cups Homebrand plain flour
2 tablespoons Homebrand caster sugar
250g Woolworths Select butter, diced and chilled
1 Woolworths Select free range egg, lightly whisked
2 tablespoons cold water
Directions:
1. For the pastry, process flour, sugar and butter in bowl of a food processor until mixture resembles breadcrumbs. With motor running add egg and water. Process until dough comes together. Divide in half and press into 2 discs. Wrap in cling film and refrigerate for 20 minutes or until firm.
2. Take one disc of pastry from fridge and roll out between 2 sheets of baking paper to a 30cm circle. Line a greased 23cm pie tin or cake pan with pastry, gently pressing in to fit. Leave any overhanging pastry and refrigerate for 15 minutes. Meanwhile remove second disc from fridge and roll on a sheet of baking paper to a 28cm circle. Lift onto a tray and refrigerate for 15 minutes. Using a small star shaped cutter, cut out six stars – this will help release steam and create a detailed lid.
3. Preheat oven to 180C fan-forced. Place a baking tray in oven to heat.
4. Combine apple and lemon juice in a bowl, tip into a colander placed over a bowl to drain. Meanwhile, combine spice, sugar and flour in a bowl. Mix well. Add apple slices and caramel sauce, toss to coat.
5. Place the apples in the pie. Place the pastry lid over and crimp edges and decorate lid with pastry stars. Brush with egg yolk and sprinkle with extra caster sugar.
6. Place apple pie onto hot tray in oven. Bake for 35-45 minutes or until crisp and golden. Stand in pan 10 minutes before serving.
Tip1: Pastry can be made and rolled out the day before or frozen as discs for up to 2 weeks.
Tip2: You can make individual pies using a muffin pan
Tip3: Any left-over pastry or off cuts can be re-rolled and cut out, sprinkled with sugar and baked as biscuits. You can swap the caramel sauce for your favourite jam.
Tools you may need:
• 23cm pie tin

INGREDIENTS I USED:
O: organic C: conventional L: locally grown or produced
Gala Apples (O)*
Cranberries (O,L)
Lemon Juice (O)
Coconut Sugar (O)^
Coconut Flour (O)**
Cinnamon (O)
Vanilla Extract (O)
Rolled Oats (O)
Coconut Oil (O)
Walnuts (O)^^
Cardamom (O)
*You can use any apple variety you prefer for baking.
^Feel free to substitute granulated cane sugar or brown sugar for the coconut sugar.
**You don’t need to make your own coconut flour. Coconut flour is available in many grocery stores, or you can substitute almond flour or whatever flour you have available.
^^The walnuts can be omitted or substituted for sliced almonds.
____________________________________________________________________
PREPARATION:
1. Preheat oven to 350. Grease a 9x13” baking dish with coconut oil and set aside.
2. Peel and core 4-5 apples and cut into ¼ inch chunks or wedges. You want 3 cups of chopped apples.
3. Rinse 2 cups of cranberries and remove any bruised or wrinkled berries.
4. Juice ½ of a small lemon or measure 2 Tbsps. of prepared lemon juice.
5. Combine the apples, cranberries and lemon juice. Add ¼ cup coconut sugar, 2 Tbsps. coconut flour, 1 Tbsp. ground cinnamon and ½ tsp. vanilla extract. Stir to combine and spread in the prepared baking dish.
6. Prepare the topping. Combine 1½ cups rolled oats, ¼ cup coconut sugar, ½ cup chopped walnuts, 1 tsp. cinnamon and 1 tsp. cardamom. Add ½ cup coconut oil and mix into the topping with your hands.
Note: I prefer the topping to be a bit crumbly and have a texture
similar to granola. If you prefer a more streusel-like topping, pulse
¾ of the oats into a flour and combine with the remaining
ingredients or substitute ¾ of the oats for another type of flour.
7. Spread the topping evenly over the filling.
8. Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes, until the filling is soft and bubbling and the topping is browned.
9. Serve on its own or topped with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!

3. Pour into a 6 cup capacity oval ceramic oven-proof dish (22x16cm). Combine breadcrumbs with remaining parsley & cheese in a small bowl. Scatter over tuna sauce. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until breadcrumbs are golden.
Tip1: You can make this Mornay in individual ramekins instead of a large baking dish
Tip2: Swap out the tuna chunks for red salmon
Tip3: Swap plain flour and panko crumbs for Gluten free plain flour and Woolworths free from gluten breadcrumbs
